Are the following really the first errors reported?  It seems
like some of the include files may not be found, but then there
should be other errors reported.  The "--with-hdf4=/usr/local/hdf4/lib"
also seems a bit odd.  Shouldn't you be pointing it at the base
directory?  The level about the lib directory?
