Think I got it. I forgot some -D options. Now I get
Test Script: gdalautotest_all
Succeeded: 401
Failed: 0 (0 blew exceptions)
Skipped: 192
When running tests same as the make file.
I am going to try to build an intel version for the new macs next.
Thanks jim

James,
*How* did you add a build target to xcode, by using the "External
Build Target," or by manually adding in files to an existing project.
I've found that I've had the most success with the "External Build
Target" layout in Xcode 2.2. Do your normal configure process using
the terminal, and then pointing Xcode at the directory. It even
picks up the CVS stuff if you're using that too. I've found it to be
really nice.
BTW, deflate might be related to needing zlib to be internal as well.
Just a guess, I'm not sure though.
