[Gdal-dev] HFD4 Dataset, gdalwarp X ModisTolls

Hi there,

Did anybody have the patience to compare gdalwarp against Modis
Reprojection Tools and MRTSwath?
 
Don't get me wrong, I believe that the MRTools are good, but there is no
API to do integration, and of course it only support HDF-4 as input and
GeoTiff/Raw as output. But it has more knowledge about the variations of
EOS data product than in GDAL.

So, One day I've heard a remote sense specialist saying:

- We prefer to use MRT and MRTSwatth to get the projected GeoTiffs
because our partners are using the same tools, so whatever the algorithm
is doing (right or wrong) is going to make ours images to match!

That makes me wondering, one day GDAL could became some kind of a
standard.  
But for the right reasons, not because it's free and everybody is using
it, but because it is really good.  We are all working on it.
