[Gdal-dev] v.in.ogr memory leak?

I was running v.in.ogr on grass61 (cygwin) on a shapefile that has a ~200mb
.shp file and a ~ 2gb .dbf file, and I watched in horror as my memory usage
his about 1.5 gb and shortly thereafter got an out-of-memory error (so the
import failed).  Have newer version of gdal/ogr solved this problem (since
I'm using cygwin, I'm hesitant to try a compile 'lest I break a currently
working grass install).
