I downloaded and tried this dataset and it seemed to work ok for me.
Could you perhaps try it with FWTools 1.0.5? I imagine it was a compression
type that was fixed since the version of GDAL you are using.
Looking through the code it seems like the last improvement in that code
was in late 2005, so I presume GDAL 1.3.2 should work too. Let me know
if you see the problem with FWTools 1.0.5. Otherwise I think we can
"write it off" as an already fixed problem.
