[Gdal-dev] how to fetch stable 1.4.0 + bugfixes

Just few minutes ago I have done:

svn checkout https://svn.osgeo.org/gdal/branches/1.4/gdal

and the VERSION file reads:

1.4.1b1

So is this 1.4.1 beta, or is it indeed the 1.4.0 + bugfixes I wanted to
fetch???

Could the instruction for how to fetch the latest stable+bugfixes
branch and the most bleeding-edge branch be put on GDAL's website?
Currently the 'Subversion' section on http://www.gdal.org/download.html
doesn't explain that.
