Why revert to VS 2003 and why pay?

A free Visual Studio Express Edition is available for download from 
microsoft. It takes adding the MFC required SDK manually, but offers 
full C++ availability.

Microsoft has a good description on the website on how to add MFC 
support in Visual Studio Express.
I tested this with Virtual terrain project and it worked perfectly.
