Daniel,

It's still possible to download Visual C++ 2003 Toolkit from some P2P
networks etc.
It's a first free version of Visual C++ compiler, father of Visual C++
2005 Expression Edition.
The Toolkit does not include any IDE, but can be used from
command line,  NMAKE, etc.
