[gdal-dev] Something like gdal_rasterize for shp polylines

Hi,

I have a number of raster tiles (the NASA blue marble image), and the country border data extracted from VMAP0 into polyline shapefiles.
I'm trying to overlay the border data onto the tiles, and gdal_rasterize looks like exactly what I'm after, but it only seems to draw polygons.

Is there any way to get gdal_rasterize to draw polylines, or another GDAL utility that can do what I'm after?
