John,
I have been running these applications too using DOS batch
scripts and found that by setting the variable CPL_DEBUG=ON you can
view extended debug information for each application. You can turn it
off by either commenting it out or turning it to OFF. This has been
especially useful when using GDALwarp. Just a thought...
