In fact, thinking about it more, you could also just automatically add the
transparent=TRUE url parameter in the code if the requested bands was
greater than 3.  Food for thought.

Frank and Adam,

I used the WMS and WCS today and both worked great.  I wish I could specify
4 band transparent png files with the WMS but from looking at
minidriver_wms.cpp I can see that that parameter was not implemented. That
is a key function for stacking multiple wms layers in a gui from different
wms servers...you need an alpha channel.  

Also, I noticed that you have support for wms 1.1 and 1.3 but it looks like
from the code that if the version isn't 1.1 then it throws a not supported
error...not sure why when Adam is checking for SRS versus CRS if he only
supports 1.1?  

Be great if at some point we could add support for the following wms
parameters:

1. BGCOLOR
2. TRANSPARENT
3. EXCEPTIONS
4. TIME
5. ELEVATION

OPTIONAL FOR SECURE SERVERS

6. USERNAME
7. PASSWORD

Otherwise, those drivers are AWESOME!  One more thing, what happened to the
WorldWind Tile service?  FYI, that and the gdal demo wcs server are bad urls
and are referenced in the help docs.

Great job guys!!!  1.5.0 has a lot of great new features and drivers.

I have prepared GDAL 1.5.0 binaries (based on RC2) and uploaded them at:

   http://download.osgeo.org/gdal/win32/1.5

These are similar to the beta2 binaries, but also include libcurl, enabling
drivers like WMS, and WCS.
