Hi Vincent,

Thanks for contributing your improvements. I've only recently discovered 
vrtmerge and have been enjoying it very much. I encourage you to post 
your changes to the gdal Trac where it won't get lost in the shuffle, 
and stands a better chance of being incorporated into the standard release.
