[Gdal-dev] recent compile on cygwin?

yes that's where it is.

I found my problem: I had a mingw bin directory in my path AND did not 
have gcc installed in cygwin. I thought, but did not verify, I was 
working in a clean shell.

So, now I'm happy to report gdal compiles cleanly out of the box still. 
Now I just have to try and figure out why it seems to missing the xerces 
library.

Sorry for the needless alarm!
