[gdal-dev] OGR shapefile to MapInfo

Nicolas,
Despite the hint provided in the error message, field type
9 is actually OFTDate. So the problem is that your shapefile
has a date field, but the mapinfo code does not know how to
create this field type.
I am under the impression this has actually been fixed
very recently. So if you are using a version other than
GDAL/OGR 1.6.0 (beta or RC) then consider upgrading.
If that still does not help, consider using the facilities
provided by RFC 21 to use SQL to cast the field to
a string (also only in GDAL 1.6 I believe).
