[gdal-dev] Is Create() supported with the PNG dataset?

Ray,

I'm wondering why SUPPORT_CREATE is not definied by default in pngdataset.cpp?
Do we have any open issues that keep from including the Create() option?

I can see the changeset for this addition
http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/changeset/11629
but we have no information about the limitations referred in the comment.
