[gdal-dev] Java Bindings

Hi Joe,
the main "problem" of a java bindings build is that it depends on which
formats you want GDAL will support. Depending on your needs, you should
build GDAL with support for several formats (which may also include external
libraries) and then you should build java bindings using SWIG, leveraging on
that GDAL build.

Anyway, we have built some java bindings for a basic GDAL version
(windows/linux) and GDAL with support for MrSID and ECW (windows/linux).
Actually we dont have a ready to use release of these libraries, but you can
find this work and how to obtain the libs on our ImageIO-Ext project (
https://imageio-ext.dev.java.net/). [See the setup guide as "guest" user
without password.]
