[gdal-dev] apply filter to large image files

hi list,

I have a large image that cannot be entirely loaded in memory.
I'd like to apply some filter, say moving average or boxcar.

I can borrow codes from OpenEV\tools\calculator.py. But only certain #
of rows can be loaded/read at a time, do the manipulation and move down.

Would you have examples or advices of how to do it?
