[gdal-dev] Help with first GDAL program

Hi,

I am new to GDAL and would like some guidance on a simple task that I am
writing a Python script for.

Given a set of GeoTIFFs I would like to find the max/min lat/long extent of
the set.

This will be for calculating pixel dimensions of a theoretical gdal_merge.py
type output, but for tiling into Google Earth.
