Hi,

Meaning was to check first if gdal versions are same by giving
ogrinfo --version
GDAL 1.7.0dev, FWTools 2.4.2, released 2009/06/24

Version cannot be changed from command line.  
If gdal versions are the same then reason for different result must be somewhere
deeper.
