[gdal-dev] Slow to write a hfa(erdas img) file?

[rrrrssss00]

need to write a big img file(2GB) from a source file(the source is also img).
it takes about 10mins , but if i write in tif or pix format, it takes much
less time (about 2min)

i tried to use the gdal_translate.exe to do the same thing , the result is
almost the same,write in img format is slow...

so , my question is : is there something wrong in the code of writing img
format? or how can i speed up the progress of writing img file
