[gdal-dev] geo PDF with layers

I have gdal 1.9.2 on fedora 19, that appears to be the latest build
available from fedora.
I have a geo PDF, from US Topo which has several layers, including an
image layer.  I would like to convert this to tiff without the image
layer.   From what I can figure out, I need 1.10 to do this.  Is that
true?   There isn't a repository for more a more up to date version is
there?
