Sigh. Changing my vote to -1 as I just discovered that the fix done in 
https://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/6681 indirectly caused a regression in the 
PLScenes driver.
Fixed per https://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/6691

I'll issue a RC2
