[gdal-dev] PHP swig bindings

Hello,

what is the current status of the PHP swig bindings?
The ticket 
http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/3984
is open since 8 years.
I have applied patch 'gdal_swig_php_v4.patch' to version 2.3.2 but the
patch failed to apply to all files and subsequently the build failed as
well.

Is this binding still supported?
Thanks for any help to get this up and running.
