[gdal-dev] how to suppress GDAL error and warning messages

Hi list,

Is there a way to how to suppress GDAL error and warning messages (that were not there in GDAL 1.9)?
Such as ERROR 4, ERROR 5, and "Warning 2: Header data too long. Truncated"
