That's not supported by all drivers. Actually most drivers don't need (and 
won't support) that syntax. But there ae circumstances where things must be 
disambiguated. For examples files opened by the more recent GMLAS driver are 
generally opened by the venerable GML driver, hence the GMLAS: prefix

Drivers that support that syntax have it documened in their respective 
documentation pages.
