this shouldn't be too hard to do if you want to tackle that and submit a pull request.

You can take inspiration from

https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/commit/1c7b950fc8754f6ba1d027f031886063675d2927

which added support for -if in gdalinfo, etc.
