[gdal-dev] gdal_cachemax configuration

Good day to all,

I am fairly new to goal / mapserver and I have to upgrade the servers to latest Linux available on Amazon. (CentOS 2 kinda)
I managed to get mapserver compiled and going properly. I’d like to configure the goal_cachemax to 512 but I cannot find
Where and how to apply this systemwide instead of per connection. 

[root at mapserver-0290 bin]# ./gdalinfo --version
GDAL 3.2.0, released 2020/10/26

[root at mapserver-0290 bin]# ./gdalinfo --config GDAL_CACHEMAX 512

Any suggestions? Unless you have a better idea of what could cause this error type?
For the records, it works fine on Amazon Linux 1...

I get errors in the apache log like the following:
