Project News

* Find Even and Javier presenting about GDAL and PROJ at FOSS4G Europe in Mostar 14-20 July, 2025
* GDAL 3.11.1 was released  https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/blob/v3.11.1/NEWS.md
* 2025 GDAL Sponsorship Program fundraising has been dreadful. No new sponsors and almost no renewals. See https://gdal.org/en/latest/sponsors/index.html for the current active roster. * Coverity scans are now clean and detect new issues as they come in. This was significant security effort that would not have been possible without the time provided by the GDAL Sponsorship Program.
* Exploratory progress callback addition to GEOS-based commands like simplify
* gdal pipelines can now mix raster+vector (gdal vector rasterize, for example)
* Pixel function SSE optimizations
* gdal raster calc --dialect – allows selection of VRT expression engine
* Increased verbosity of some compiler warnings with opt-out for some especially noisy drivers
* gdal raster reproject – enhanced autocomplete now suggest intersecting CRSs sorted by smallest CRS extent
* gdal raster algebra – simplification of band algebra https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/pull/12605 and subsequent PRs
* PROJ 9.6.2 release fixes a small regression https://github.com/OSGeo/PROJ/releases/tag/9.6.2
