When I run gdalinfo on a GRASS binary file it looks for table files, such as datum.table, in /usr/etc/ instead of /usr/local/grass-6.4.0RC2/etc/ where they are located.

I have the GRASS and GDAL library
path set in /etc/ld.so.conf. I also tried setting the grass "etc" directory in .bash_profile PATH, but that did not work.
How do I tell gdal to look for tables in the /usr/local/grass-6.4.ORC2/etc
directory?

Thanks
Jim
