It is being assigned +ellps=WGS84 when read with raster::raster() in R 3.2.3 but also when using gdalinfo on the command line. I'm using GDAL 1.11.3 from <a href="http://kyngchaos.com">kyngchaos.com</a> on OS X 10.11.3</div><div><br></div><div>Not sure if this is a known issue or subsequently fixed in later versions so I wanted to report it here.
