<p>Yes, the project is loaded but it is not a "Makefile Project" anymore, so it's basically useless.<br>
</p>

<p>In previous VS versions once the .vsproj file was loaded and upgraded you could press F7 and "nmake -f makefile.vc" would start running inside the IDE.</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>That means you would have all the advantages of the IDE <span>(debuggin/cross reference/refactoring/etc.) </span>but still using the settings of nmake.local and running makefiles.<br>
</p>

<p>I am using VS 2013. Is that the same for you on VS 2015?</p>
