    <p>when you get the "TIFFReadEncodedTile() failed.", it is in a

      failure path of the geotiff driver, so the processing should stop

      immediately. I suspect something later in the stack (VRT driver?)

      doesn't, but without a reproducer to investigate what's going on

      exactly, hard to tell</p>
