<p>Quite certainly. There are already routines to convert HalfFloat
<--> Float32 in
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/blob/master/gdal/frmts/gtiff/tif_float.h">https://github.com/OSGeo/gdal/blob/master/gdal/frmts/gtiff/tif_float.h</a>
used by the GeoTIFF driver (quite esoteric feature in TIFF) and
the new ZARR driver.</p>
