https://gdal.org/programs/gdal_rasterize.html#cmdoption-gdal_rasterize-ot</a> and that the whole range 52 to 82 in the source data is very, very close to the black end of the target TIFF? Without LUT stretch the result looks certainly all black in image viewers.</span></p>
