Hi,
Yes, there is an official plan that the OSGeo German Local Chapter (which does not exist formally) is planning to go to LinuxTag.

:-)

Sorry, I am only joking because we had some discussions as to the role of a Local Chapter and such. I did kick off last years presence and it was then organized and funded largely by WehreGroup staff (who brought the equipment and sofa and sponsored €1000,- to LinuxTag to be allowed to put up their sign). Yet another corporate inkind contribution for OSGeo that never made it into official circuitry.

I forward this request to the German language promotion and visibility committee list where we will hopefully find some more volunteers.

I think that I have been talking to someone at the FlightGear booth but as usual there was too little time. There is a short report in the Wiki showing what we did:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/LinuxTag_2006

As an aside: Here you can see OSGeo (great tower of babel) and OSM (map making for dummies) side by side harmoniously:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/LinuxTag_2006#Management_Level

(I forgot how well placed and layouted this report was...)

I would be happy to join in with FlightGear, if you are interested - and if it is only that we request for our booths to be side by side.

Best regards,
Arnulf.

PS:
Cool that this request comes in through geodata!
