dear all,
This is part 1 in a series of 2 emails about the geodata committee's
activities. This one's structural, the next one will be practical.
I have been mostly offline recently because I've been getting a lot of
screen scan / light sensitivity induced migraines. (Cue sound of tiny
violin playing. Good tip: setting refresh rate above 80Hz helps *a lot*;
i just wish i could do the same thing on the London Underground.)
I am working mostly with paper and voice these days and am much better.
One thing this makes hard for me to do is sustained IRC meetings.
I would like to have a voice meeting of the Geodata Committee.
Next Thursday, Feb 1st, regular time of 1600GMT/1100EST could work.
We could use this facility kindly provided by ADSK:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/Conference_Call
And i would like to ask SAC to look into setting up a YATE based SIP
service as soon as enough other sysadmin work is off the stack there.
I don't know whether I want to join Norm in abdicating committee
chairpersonhood [sic]. I *do* have time, and my focus is improving.
But, there are a lot of small pieces to put together that would add up
to a very pleasant and convincing picture of our geodata activities.
I'd love to find a fix whereby people can take on discrete tasks.
That's what the next email will be about; what is to be done.
cheers, and bear with me,
jo
