Call forAbstracts

 AARSE is thepremier African conference for scientists and practitioners involved in remote sensing, earth observation, space science and geospatial technology in general. AARSEconferences are geared at keeping society and governments abreast of theexponentially growing technology, but also provide a forum not only fordissemination, but also for discussion on tackling the continent’s developmentchallenges. 

The 11thAARSE international conference will be held at Hotel African in Kampala, Ugandafrom 24thto 28thOctober 2016. The theme of theconference is “Our Earth, OurHeritage: Harnessing Geospatial Technology for Sustainable Development inAfrica”. The theme and attendant sub themes will address the post 2015 global development agenda. The event will feature keynote addresses form eminentspeakers on the subthemes, technical presentations, workshops and a range ofside events. The sub themes of the conference are; 

1. Space and earthobservation technology for sustainable development goals (SDG’s) 

2. Disaster riskmanagement and resilience 

3. From climate change toclimate risk management 

4. Human capitaldevelopment in geospatial science 

5. Big Data and spatialdata infrastructure utility and management 

6. Africa space policyand strategy: Cost benefit of space technology 

7. Geospatial science andtechnology for water and watershed management 

8. Conflict management,human security and peace 

9. Cities and demographictransitions 

10. Geospatialtechnologies for Energy Management 

There arealso a range of special sessions that are being planned.
