Dear Maria,

I remember there was big discussion on the lab network's name sometime in March. I think it was Lluís who finally collated the list of all suggestions and all names suggested were  good  but the reason we decided to keep "ICA-OSGeo Labs Network" as the full title was  the whole initiative was built on the basis of ICA-OSGeo MoU principles http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/MOU_ICA   but we  also agreed on the short name  OSGL for "Open Source Geospatial Labs" .We announced the name consensus in the discuss list for the wider community info as well.

It is not only  OSGeo and ICA but all interested are welcome to be part of this initiative. So ISPRS, GSDI, OGC or any other organisations are very welcome to join and be part of the initiative. We warmly welcome any organisations who want to join forces in our common mission.

Individual labs (those already established and those in future) are free to select the names they wish. Our focus now should be to build up activities and getting more universities, educational institutes establish Open Source Geo Labs and rapidly scale up our activities.

Dear Jeff and dear Helena
My preference was absolutely for the proposal of Helena. By the way, considering ICA-OSgeo, ICA-OSGeo means the Labs that ideally agree on the agreement signed between ICA and OSGeo, therefore the agreement signed between an Association (ICA) and a Foundation (OSGeo). On the opposite ICA Labs means something different (the Labs of the ICA Association) and not true because our Lab is not related to ICA. Please leave ICA - OSGeo in order to avoid confusion. I hope that now my thought is clearer. Many thanks!!
