Hi Jeff,

Excellent idea. It will be great to have OSGeo also officially involved in the SDI-Open event and also at ICC 2015 at Rio. I'd like to fully support your request for travel funding from OSGeo Board to SDI-Open and ICC 2015 and i am sure everyone in this community will also support this as it is strategic importance to have you at ICC 2015 for expanding collaborations and new opportunities. In addition to the excellent collaborations OSGeo has build with ICA through the ICA-OSGeo MoU in 2011 , there are many activities that are going which will need your presence at ICC 2015 so that OSGeo fully takes advantages of these opportunities for expanding OSGeo worldwide. Also this event will specifically help expand OSGeo presence in South America (very key region for all of us).

>From my end, i will ensure OSGeo is officially added as co-organisor along with ICA and OGC for the SDI-Open 2015 event. There will be a hands on workshop at IBGE using OSGeo stack on the first day of SDI-Open , so i think it makes great sense that you as OSGeo President to be present .

We are also working to get OSGeo Live DVDs given out to all delegates (around 1200) at ICC 2015. So having a booth for OSGeo will be perfect and you can also help plan this.

I am ccing the OSGeo Board maillist so that this is now request from the GeoforAll community to fund your travel as the OSGeo President to ICC 2015 and SDI-Open 2015 at Rio. So please put this for discussions in the next Board meeting and take action to get this arranged. Thanks.

Suchith

Jeff,
A booth is a wonderful idea, an enterprise where everything is free and sustainable!
Like a pet flower, with just a bit of care and a byte of feeding, will give much in return,
over and over and over again.

Hello GeoForAll,

I believe OSGeo should be prominent and active in the SDI Open / ICC event in Brazil in August [1]. As the OSGeo president I'd like to help with this, as well as be there in person (it would be great to talk again directly with George, Carl, and the community leaders); I've learned that these types of face to face meetings are invaluable.

Some questions:

- I'd like to see OSGeo listed as supporters on that page[1], can someone let me know what is required?

- I wonder if there are plans for an OSGeo booth at these events, or if not maybe I can help plan this.

- if others agree of this importance, I'd like to request funding for my travel to SDI-Open from the OSGeo Board. I should likely move fast on this soon.

Thanks,

-jeff
