Gabor,

We have missed you! Thanks for finding the time! Having Hungary’s Geospatial ‘guru’ participate is a huge benefit to this international effort for a CitySmart app we *all* can share. Many hands makes short work!

Hope you don’t mind I put you right next to Maria,

Good luck with GoToMeeting and your OS 6.4.8.

Dear Colleagues!

A little bit late, but now I have now the opportunity to express my interest to join.

My affiliation HUNAGI, the Hungarian Association for Geo-information arranged its latest several conferences with sessions on Intelligent Transportation, Earth Observation, Open Data and Open Source, LBS and Crowdsourcing and will organise second time conference sessions on Spatially Enabled Society (with around two topics on open data and public utilities) in Balatonfüred Hungary in early November. We will have the chance to welcome some leading speakers of these fields.

HUNAGI contributes also to the European policy influence related to the widely use of geospatial data and related technologies in topics Big and linked data, Open data, SME promotion, IoT and Urban Planning and Regional Development: actions orchestrated by the European Umbrella Organisation of Geographical Information (EUROGI).

Recently, HUNAGI was invited by the National Authority on Data Protection and Freedom of Information to provide practical advises related to the regulations and legislation upgrade needed by the anticipated extensive use of drones by governments, commerce and private.

HUNAGI partners include the Hungarian Urban Knowledge Center (MUT) and the Lechner Tudásközpont (LTK) or Cascadoss Hungary which might be interested to take part and contribute.

As reference, I would add the very recent document of the United Nations on the Resolution of the General Assembly made on 26th February in New York on the inevitable tools as geodesy, geospatial data, remote sensing for the sustainable development goals till 2025 (having a subset of SD goals for urban topics)

I will attend the Gotomeeting session and I will call the attention also the mentioned HUNAGI partners as well. (I hope I can, considering my old OS 6.4.8 version, which is not the latest one)

Tomorrow morning having a videoconference with EUROGI top officers and in afternoon at the HUNAGI presidential board meeting I will have the opportunity to share these information if you agree.

Best,
Gabor Remetey

Colleagues,

Great to see all these ideas and momentum for the Urban Science thematic. Thank you everyone for contributing. It is also good that the main points are being updated in the wiki at http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GeoForAll_UrbanScience_CityAnalytics

As i have now got confirmation on the tele meeting arrangements for the Geospatial and Big Data IG meeting at RDA 5 on 9th March 2015, may i suggest that we use the meeting opportunity at Research Data Alliance to discuss this further face to face or remotely (remote connection details below) . I think this is a perfect opportunity as it not only brings together the three communities (Urban Science, Geospatial and Big Data )in RDA but also now gives us good opportunity to expand our ideas on this theme for the future.

Chris will be chairing the session. We will have a few short presentations but we can arrange at 30- 45 minutes for open discussions for the initial ideas for this Road Map Challenge.

Subject: [Ica-osgeo-labs] Urban Science - City Analytics - The Road Map Challenge

OSGEO USCA (Urban Science/CityAnalytics)
[or CitySmart, myCitySmart, iCitySmart. . .UrbanNirvana?]

I’ve edited our webpage,
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GeoForAll_UrbanScience_CityAnalytics

First I went looking for links on who the heck we are. WoW! A mighty impressive group!

Next did a little housekeeping on prospective Partners and the Resources links.

Feel free to continue adding to and fixing this page.

We’ve got to identify some key *Research Questions* and hammer away at the *Road Map.*

At some point the Road Map will look entirely different from the bundled laundry list we have there now.

The Road Map needs to become so organized and complete that it is a well-defined requirements document.

Kind regards,
-Patrick
