Dear representatives of the Joint Board of Geospatial Information Societies (JBGIS) and other prominent geospatial-oriented organizations:

* In support of GSDI, kindly forward this email to your colleagues! *

Preparations for the 15th Global Spatial Data Infrastructure World Conference (GSDI 15, http://gsdi15.org.tw/) are well underway. The GSDI Association and the Local Organizing Committee are excited to continue the GSDI World Conference series, which began in 1996 and now will take place in 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan (Republic of China) from 28 November to 2 December 2016. The Conference is being jointly hosted by GSDI and its Taiwan-based members, the Taiwan Association of Disaster Prevention Industry (TADPI) and the Taiwan Geographic Information System Center (TGIC), with strong support from Ministry of the Interior (MOI), Government of Taiwan.

Under the theme of “Spatial Enablement in the Smart Homeland,” GSDI 15 is bringing together engaging speakers and questioning participants to explore the challenges that service providers and users face with respect to increasing access to and use of geospatial data. Presentations will cover the full range of practice, development, and research experiences that advance the objective of spatially enabling citizens, government, and industry. The Conference also will showcase strategies, policies, best-practices, and innovations that are driving collaboration and interoperability with respect to spatial data collection, access, visualization, and analysis.

Three of the keynote addresses have been confirmed. Mark Reichardt, President of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Barbara Ryan, Secretariat Director of the Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and Ed Parsons, Geospatial Technologist of Google, will share their perspectives on the status, trends, and future of spatial data infrastructure.

You and colleagues are welcome and encouraged to discuss SDI practices, learn from industry specialists, and broaden your network! GSDI 15 offers numerous opportunities for oral presentations of abstracts and papers (refereed and non-refereed), posters and a refereed publication (see http://gsdi15.org.tw/CallForPaper). The deadline for abstracts is May 1st; the deadline for the submission of workshop proposals is open until June 1st and the deadline for submission of full papers and posters is July 1st.

We look forward to seeing you in Taipei in 2016!

The GSDI 15 Conference Organizing Team
