[Geo4All] UN OpenGIS update

Dear All

I want to update you about the UN OpenGIS Initiative.

OSGeo (Maxi Cannata) launched a contest for UN OpenGIS Initiative. You

Meanwhile we are proceeding with the Capacity Building.

19th September 2016 the first virtual class  starts. The first course is 
"QGIS GeoAcademy" and the tutors are Rick Smith, Tom Mueller and 
Youngok  Kang (I thank you in advance!). After this experiment we will 
go ahead with other tutors with PostGIS, geoserver, OpenLayers and  
Geonode. UN staff and tutors will use the Beep Platform provided by 
Politecnico di Milano for sharing material and information. The course 
is self-made but the tutors are available for answering questions and 
solving doubts.

In Autumn, thanks to Rafael Moreno, Ki-Joune Li (head of the project 
together with Kyoung-Soo Eom) and I will organize a webinar for  
presenting the state of the initiative.

The activity is intense. In November we will have the Second UN OpenGIS 
Workshop where I will show how much GeoForAll has been contributing (in 
Capacity Building) to this initiative.
