Urban Transitions Global Summit 2016 (5-9 September 2016, Shanghai, China) will highlight the latest research and practice towards developing an urban future that is more economically competitive, sustainable and resilient, equitable and inclusive, and digitally supported.
This major new conference will be cross-sector and cross-discipline and is designed to bring together global leaders in policy, academia, technology and business to stimulate debate and provide a basis for new interconnected ways of thinking to shape the future direction of our cities.
Contributions are invited by 3 March 2016 for oral and poster presentation alongside 12 high-level invited keynote speakers, including:
? Suparno Banerjee, Vice President, HP; Global Leader HP's Smart City Initiative
? Michael Batty of the Centre for Advanced Spatial at University College London
? Herbert Girardet, Co-Founder, World Future Council
? Susan Parnell, African Centre for Cities, University of Cape Town, South Africa
? Martin Powell. Global Head of Urban Development, Siemens, UK
? Saskia Sassen of Columbia University
? David Satterthwaite of the International Institute for Environment and Development
The co-chairs are Karen Seto at Yale and Darren Robinson at Nottingham.
The multi-stream conference programme will comprise nearly 150 oral presentation slots, workshops, panel debates and a large poster session organised around four themes:
* Economically competitive urban futures
* Sustainable and resilient urban futures
* Equitable and inclusive urban societies
* Digitally supported urban futures
Excellent publication opportunities are offered in an Open Access format in Elsevier's Procedia Engineering or Procedia Environmental Sciences.
