Jonathan,
WoW! That is super cool!
Rather powerful and beautifully done!
Sets the bar nice and high!

Hi Patrick,
There's a similar thing using JavaScript here: http://stuffin.space/ - no 3D models of the sateliites, but it doesn't require Java be installed, which is always a big bonus.
It's open source (but not Open Source) - https://github.com/jeyoder/ThingsInSpace. Development seems to have stopped though.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Markus,
Thanks for the heads up!
Very nice, and yes we are aware of GPredict.
We still think JSatTrak, with its 3D virtual globe experience,
has something special to offer (including 3D satellite models).
This high rez 3D world will also include space weather and do it all via a web app.
Nothing to install. Just point a browser at it and go for a high-flying ride!

Dear Open Source Geospatial Community,

We working on porting this very cool satellite tracking tool from WorldWind Java to WebWorldWind

You will be able to see where any satellite is at any time, including the International Space Station.

Something we would thoroughly appreciate from you please are 3D models for any satellites.

Did you check "gpredict" (under GPL):

"Gpredict is a real-time satellite tracking and orbit prediction application. It can track an unlimited number of satellites and display their position and other data in lists, tables, maps, and polar plots (radar view). Gpredict can also predict the time of future passes for a satellite, and provide you with detailed information about each pass. "
