Me es grato dirigirme a usted a los efectos de anunciarle el lanzamiento de la tercer edición del "Premio a la mejor tesis de Maestría en Cartografía, Geodesia o Información Geográfica" ofrecido por el Instituto Panamericano de Geografía e Historia (IPGH). Las dos anteriores (2015 y 2016) han culminado con éxito, y tal vez haya sido convocado a colaborar como evaluador.
La convocatoria abrirá el 1-mayo-2017 y cerrará el 30-mayo-2017. El reglamento y demás detalles están disponibles en la URL que se indica abajo. En pocas palabras, pueden presentarse tesistas de nivel de Maestría que hayan defendido su trabajo con fecha posterior al 1-enero-2012 y hasta el 31-12-2016. Se requiere que cumpla una de dos condiciones: a) ser ciudadano de un país miembro del IPGH, independientemente de la universidad que otorgue el título o b) haber egresado de una universidad con título acreditado en un país miembro, independientemente de la nacionalidad del candidato. Los candidatos deberán elaborar un documento tipo artículo científico, lo que justifica anunciar con suficiente anticipación el llamado. El poster anunciando la convocatoria puede verse en

Al presente se ha logrado convocar un grupo muy representativo de más de 500 evaluadores, lo que asegura una amplia difusión en la comunidad académica, del continente y fuera de él. La lista de países miembros incluye a Argentina, Belice, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Guatemala, Haití, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Perú, República Dominicana, Uruguay y Venezuela.
El IPGH cuenta con Ud. para la próxima edición, y quería solicitarle que haga llegar esta información a todos a quien entienda puede interesarle. El premio será jerarquizado con la presencia de cada vez más egresados, así como con la colaboración de distinguidos científicos como Ud.

I am pleased to contact you to announce the Call for Applications to the third edition of the "Prize for the Outstanding Master's thesis in Cartography, Geodesy and/or Geographic Information" organized by the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH). The tho earlier editions (2015 and 2016) were sucessfull, and maybe your cooperation has been requested as an evaluator.
The call will open 1st May 2017 and will close 30th May 2017. In a few words, Master's level students graduated between 1st-January 2012 and 31th, December 2016 can apply. In addition, they should satisfy one of two conditions: a) be a citizen of any PAIGH member state, irrespective of the granting university or b) have a degree granted by an accredited university in any PAIGH member state, irrespective of the student's citizenship. The candidates must write a scientific paper summarizing their work, a fact that justify an early announcement well before June. The announcement can be downloaded from

To day we succeeded in contacted a group of more than 500 reviewers, a fact that assures an ample diffusion in the academic community, both from the Americas as well as outside.
