Dear colleagues,


I am very happy to get the opportunity to nominate Victoria Rautenbach as the new co-chair of GeoForAll [1].


Victoria  is a senior lecturer in the Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Victoria is an enthusiastic contributor to open source , open data , open education  at University of Pretoria. She engages students in open data events and has arranged a number of events to introduce geoinformatics to school students. She is a member of the ICA-OSGeo lab at the University of Pretoria since its inception in 2012. She is very passionate about the use of open source in education and also the increased use of open source in developing countries.  Details at

I am very confident that  Victoria will take GeoForAll to further achievements and opportunities. From very humble start GeoForAll expanded rapidly  thanks to the tireless work of our amazing colleagues worldwide. We have been very successful in expanding GeoForAll ideas at university level but now we need to focus also on Spatial Education for School level esp. for economically backward communities globally . Victoria's  work for  school level students is very inspiring.


I will now be emailing the OSGeo Board to kindly accept Victoria Rautenbach as the new co-chair for GeoForAll.


I am very grateful for the opportunity to co-chair the GeoForAll initiative till now and get the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues globally over the last few years.  It is thanks to the amazing work by all our colleagues that we build great momentum for Open Principles in GeoEducation. I thank you all for your support, help and kindness. I will keep continuing my work as a volunteer for GeoForAll , OSGeo and all Open Education initiatives.
