Dear colleagues,
The Protected Planet Report 2018 informs about the actual status of the world’s protected areas, is available in digital format for the present COP14 of the UN Convention Biological Diversity (CBD). The Protected Planet Report 2018 - Tracking progress towards global targets for protected areas report is available at https://livereport.protectedplanet.net
My greetings to all colleagues who are sharing their great work at 14th Conference of Parties (COP-14) in Egypt. Scientists need to guide world leaders to clear and influential targets for combating biodiversity losses in the same way that they have driven international climate accords. Geotechnologies and open data will play a key role to guide policy and improve conservation efforts around the world. Please share this information with the members of your COP 14 delegation and encourage them to attend.
Details at https://www.osgeo.org/foundation-news/we-need-to-speak-for-the-voiceless-to-improve-conservation-efforts-around-the-world/
We need to speak for the voiceless – the rest of the estimated 10 million species on the planet, which form soil, water, air, and provide food, shelter, medicine and the spiritual and physical well being of humanity.
Best wishes,
Suchith
