The National Science Foundation is supporting the development of EarthCube to transform research in the academic geosciences community through the creation of a well-connected and facile environment to share data and knowledge in an open, transparent, and inclusive manner, thus accelerating our ability to understand and predict the Earth system. EarthCube is a unique community driven by collaboration between geoscience and computer science domains.
The EarthCube community extends a special invitation to the geoscience community to participate in the 2019 EarthCube Annual Meeting<https://www.earthcube.org/ECAM2019> in Denver, CO, June 12-14, 2019. The deadline to submit abstracts has been extended to Friday, April 19th, 2019 to increase and broaden participation in the meeting. Submit Abstracts Here<https://www.earthcube.org/ECAM2019/Posters>
EarthCube welcomes presentation of research enabled by the use of advanced cyberinfrastructure, and presentation of new computational capabilities that enable and support geoscience. We are particularly interested in contributions from scientists not previously involved with EarthCube who can share results and ideas that exemplify the transformative research enabled by collaboration across computer and geoscience disciplines and the integration of information from multiple sources to advance knowledge and understanding.
Why attend?
* Connect and network with like minded researchers in birds of a feather, poster, breakout and demo sessions
* Be inspired by the keynote speakers, Jess Phoenix (Accessibility of science advocate and co-founder and executive director of Blueprint Earth) and Shaowen Wang (Director of the CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies at the University of Illinois)
* See presentations on current EarthCube research
* Learn about, and participate in discussions on the future of EarthCube, and future funding opportunities
Early career scientists are particularly encourage to attend. Funding is available through Early Career Travel Grants<https://www.earthcube.org/info/early-career-travel-grant> that provide reimbursement funds to individuals ($500) or underrepresented minorities ($1000) to present or discuss their EarthCube-related work.
