I received this info. Seems a clear case of Digital Feudalism:
Job Description
The Protected Area Management (PAM) initiative is a partnership between National Geographic Society, Esri<https://giscorps.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2f0ed11a65bee1ea2dbdd6f07&id=225a7cc7f2&e=f10a86dce8>, Southern African Wildlife College (SAWC)<https://giscorps.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2f0ed11a65bee1ea2dbdd6f07&id=4d8f60f8ff&e=f10a86dce8>, Peace Parks Foundation (PPF)<https://giscorps.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2f0ed11a65bee1ea2dbdd6f07&id=4b5e4c20de&e=f10a86dce8>, and GISCorps. The objective of this partnership is to prepare staff at protected areas in Africa to utilize Esri’s ArcGIS Solutions for Conservation<https://giscorps.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2f0ed11a65bee1ea2dbdd6f07&id=fcf7b06628&e=f10a86dce8> (see this Story Map<https://giscorps.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2f0ed11a65bee1ea2dbdd6f07&id=a42651393d&e=f10a86dce8>). ArcGIS Solutions for Conservation provides protected area managers with a secure suite of configurable technology for better managing and protecting parks and sensitive conservation areas.
Southern African Wildlife College is an institution that specializes in conservation education, training, and skills development. The College equips people with the qualifications, practical experience, and thought leadership to manage complex ecosystems, conserve wildlife, and empower local communities.
The Peace Parks Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to re-establish, renew and preserve large functional ecosystems that transcend man-made boundaries, thereby protecting and regenerating natural and cultural heritage vital to enabling and sustaining a harmonious future for man and the natural world.
To support this initiative, GISCorps is seeking volunteers with extensive ArcGIS Online training experience and a background in conservation and natural resources/wildlife management. The volunteers will teach a series of courses to approximately 16 SAWC and PPF team members so that they can successfully deploy and use the tools at the college and incorporate their use into their own curriculum.
It is expected that the courses will consist of approximately four 2–3 hour lecture-lab sessions covering ArcGIS Online (AGO) best practices followed by approximately three 2–3 hour workshops devoted to ArcGIS Solutions for Conservation configuration, customization, and workflows. These sessions would take place virtually over a two-week period in late January and early February. Sessions would be conducted from 1-4pm South Africa Standard Time (GMT +2).
There is also potential for a second phase of training in late spring or early summer, when the group may wish to reconvene for a shorter series of more advanced courses or workshops after they’ve had time to work with AGO and the Conservation Solution.
While Esri has provided links to many relevant Learn Paths and other training materials, it is expected that the selected volunteers would need to prepare customized lectures and labs that relate the material to protected area conservation.
Qualifications & Requirements: Prior GIS training experience is a requirement for this position. Advanced knowledge in all aspects of AGO administration, including best practices governing accounts, user types, roles, privileges, groups, categories, sharing and security. Advanced skills in AGO data management and external data integration. Extensive experience in creating, configuring, and managing AGO content including layers, maps, apps, and Dashboards. Experience with field data collection workflows for areas with intermittent internet access, including Survey 123 and QuickCapture. Experience with Esri web courses, Learn Paths, and tutorials Extensive experience in providing GIS training in an online environment Familiarity with ArcGIS Solutions for Conservation is highly desired Excellent verbal communication and writing skills Stable internet connection Duration The courses will be conducted in multiple days over the course of two weeks and each session will be from 2-3 hours long.
Software The courses will be conducted on a web conferencing platform provided and administered by SAWC/PPF representatives. ArcGIS Solutions for Conservation will be deployed on SAWC’s ArcGIS Online organization.
Location This mission does NOT require traveling and will be conducted remotely. The volunteers will use their own hardware and will work closely with SAWC and PPF representatives via email and web conferencing.
How to apply If you are interested and available and have prior GIS training experience, please send an email with the words “Protected Area Management” in the subject line to recruit at giscorps.org<mailto:recruit at giscorps.org> by Friday, December 11, 2020. Please include your resume and a list of courses that you have previously taught. Interviews will be scheduled with top candidates on a first come, first served basis until the positions are filled.?
