Dear GeoForAll Colleagues,

Due to Coronavirus pandemic we had to postpone our OPEN DATA DAY event. A little more than 2 months has passed and we realized that we still have a long way to go before we can meet in person and that we are facing new challenges that are urgent, demanding our solidarity and a debate on access to information and to open data. The event was then redesigned to take place on JUNE 10th, and will be all virtual and not only local! We made some changes to our schedule, add international debates and convert all the funds raised to support young people from vulnerable communities in our city (Salvador, Northeast of Bahia) so that they can stay connected to the internet in this moment of crisis! This way we will be helping them to stay in their homes, to participate in events like ours, to access educational contents, to reach safe information and support their families and community! We believe, in all aspects, that we are stronger together, even if it is virtually toguether!!!

Therefer I´m glad to invite GeoForAll community members to attent to our event:

OPEN STREET MAP DATA DAY - UFBA. Communities Mapping (and helping) Communities June 10th, 2020

Check out the program that is very interesting: NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SESSIONS, DEBATES, POSTERS, WORKSHOPS and artistic performances by young community members. The event will be free and there is no need to register to attend and participate! ALL the amount collected with registration (for certificates) and donations WILL BE CONVERTED TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 PANDEMIA!!! With values starting at €2 (+ tx), we will partially mitigate the digital exclusion by donating celphone chips and/or internet data packages, helping more young people and vulnerable families to participate in events like ours, to access information and to remain in isolation.
